COVID Vaccine Registration For Indians Above 18 Begins: Check CoWin Details
The Central Government earlier announced all Indian citizens above the age of 18 are eligible to take COVID jabs from May 1. The Centre also allowed states to directly procure vaccine doses from manufacturers. States are now gearing up to inoculate those in the age group of 18-45 years.
Regarding the registration for the vaccination, not much has changed. You will have to go on the Cowin app and register. The documents required as same as before. Those 18 and above can get vaccinated starting from May 1. So you can register accordingly.
Vaccine manufacturers have been asked to supply 50 per cent of their stock to the Centre, and split the rest 50 per cent between state governments and the open market.
The decision for the “liberalised and accelerated” Phase 3 Covid-19 vaccination drive from May 1 was announced after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a series of meetings over a sudden surge in Corona cases. With Covid-19 cases rising at an alarming speed and hospital beds, oxygen supply and medicines in short supply, the government was under tremendous pressure to open up vaccination and allow states access to medical essentials.

The registration for the COVID19 vaccine will begin on April 28th, i.e. today. Registration is only via CoWIN Website/Aarogya Setu App only. No other app/website/walk-in/spot registration would be allowed.
Register using mobile number and Aadhaar number. Follow the simple steps as guided by the website, register, and choose your Vaccination Centre via Pincode/District. You would get an SMS Confirmation. Keep it safe. In case there is an emergency make sure that you reschedule the date beforehand. We cannot say much about the price as that decision is on the state government.
Registration Procedure
- Visit the Co-WIN website at cowin.gov.in or download the app from the App store.
- You can either enter your Mobile number or Aadhaar number (Choose a preferred option).
- If you entered your mobile number, you will receive an OTP.
- Type the OTP and enter submit.
- Select your preferred date and time and schedule it.
- You can also choose from a list of centres. Choose accordingly.
- After the registration is done, you will receive a Reference ID.
The Reference ID after the vaccination is done will help you in receiving your Proof certificate.
Documents Needed
- Any identification proof is fine. Either the Aadhaar card or Voter ID or any other ID Card.
- People of age 18 and above can carry any of the above documents with them.
- Those with medical conditions, who are allowed to get vaccinated, will need to carry a medical certificate as proof.
